I've never really worked on an ignition system, and I don't know how to get the rotor button out so I can replace it with my new one. I just put the new cap on last night and I'm hoping someone can explain to me how I get the old rotor out. I tried pulling and it wouldn't budge and I didn't want to break anything.
How do you remove the rotor button?

the rotor arm (or piece that spins inside the cap), just slides off, sometims they are abit sticky but on the 924 2.0L they just pop off, pull harder, _________________ 3 928s, |

got it. thanks for the help, I thought it would pull out, but I was afraid I'd bust something up and I didn't want to have to buy a new distributor. _________________ 1977 Porsche 924 red and READY! |

how do you know when the rotor arm need replacing? I looked at mine the other day & the contacts look quite worn, - gone a blue grey colour (on the arm & the distributor cap). I don't know if it's ok to give them a clean with a wire brush or something? _________________ meteor silver 1981 924 lux. -UK |

Mine probably looked a lot like yours, I went ahead and changed it because it was one of the only cheap 924 parts available at any of the local auto parts stores. After changing the cap and rotor, there was a very noticeable change in the quality of the idle. The only other thing I have that needs replacing is the plug wires. _________________ 1977 Porsche 924 red and READY! |
