Well, I ran in the first event of 2005. It was the Croft Circuit sprint. Croft is a fast circuit at Teeside in the UK.
This was the first ever event with the 944s2 box and the Phantom Grip Unit.
The good news is that the Phantom Grip unit worked great. I won the class by 4 seconds and gained a healthy first set of championship points.
Clearly one event will not prove if the Phantom Grip causes damage. I intend to pull the diff cover off after the next sprint to check it .
It behaved well though, giving good and smooth grip out of the slower corners and better drive as I leapt the rumble strips (habit of mine!)
One thing not related to the diff is a problem however.
Since I got the box the change has been stiff at the lever. The gears all engage fine, just stiff finding them in the gate.
Anyone come across this with the 944s2 box?
Cheers

Glad to see that I'm not the only one trying to run a 924 in sprints and hillclimbs in the UK. Bought mine in Aug of last year, ran a few events in class a3 to see what needed doing to be competative, Currently about a month behind schedule.....Work keeps getting in the way. Interesting to see you have a phantom grip as I'm currently machining my own version (6 green springs). I have a std 924 box and I have a stiff change on that (learning to live with it).
Good luck |

Hi there
Why not join the Porsche Club and come out with us lot?
There are several 924s running here and lots of advice/experience available to share.
Let me know if you have any questions and I'll be glad to answer.
Cheers
