928 International is selling the 931 fuel filters for $5.00 on close out. The part number is 931 110 149 00.

http://www.mailordercentral.com/928intl/products.asp?dept=105

BTW the 931 filter will fit the 928 if the old fittings are used.

Nice heads-up on the filter! Thx for the info.

Browsed the site a while... Here's a wheel I'd never seen before -

Did you notice the in tank fuel strainers which will fit out 924's? They also have good used intank pumps at half price which also fit our 924's. Haven't tried them yet, but I believe the rubber tiedown straps for the air filter are the same as the 931 except the 928 uses 4 of them. Don't even look at the price of the plastic fuel tank. Good thing I found a used one for $400.

Don't know what the actual difference is, but (according to PET) the stock number ending in "00" was called for in the '79 model, and for the '80 model through VIN 93A0150418. After that, the stock number ending in "10" was called for, but has been superceeded by one ending in "04". My guess is that the supplier changed or the specs changed slightly.

Smoothie,

I believe those are S type winter wheels which have a narrower width so snow or AT tires may be mounted on them. The 928 has an extreme offset (52.5mm?) so they tend to look different than the standard wheel.

Received one of the filters from 928intl today. It will fit my 81 if I reuse the male-female inlet fitting. The outlet fitting is the same. The filter is made by Purolator in W. Germany. Purolator part number GF-145L Kraftstoff-filter. It is also manufacturer labeled as 931.110.149.00.

Eric,

Not sure about your 82 but the inlet fitting was all that needed changed on my 81. BTW I was always having to swap inlets and outlets on the stock filters I bought for my 80 NA (RIP). It's nice having one filter that will fit all of my Porsches.

The last time I replaced filters, I had to remove the fitting from the in-use fuel filter and use the one that was frozen to the fuel line. The fitting that came on the new filter didn't match up with the lines in the car. Sounds almost as if when buying filters, it's a crap-shoot as to whether the adapters supplied will match up with the car's plumbing.

There are three filters for the 931. The 00, the 01, and the 04.

My car is a late 82 931, and it uses the 04. It was a b*tch to find one, but I finally did. The difference seems to be the fittings. My car uses a female/female setup.

You can try to swap the fittings, but they are loctited on, and you may end up destroying the filter.

My filter was a German Purolator (they make great filters, BTW) and the box listed it as correct for the 924 Carrera GT. Don't know if it is the OEM but it may very well be. Looks great with its "Made in West Germany" print on it.

My car had an 01 fitted, but replaced it with an 04 (only one I could find out here) is the same fittings and length, just some detail difference in the design.

I stand corrected. The filter I am using is Purolator #GF-145R. It has the two female fittings. When I bought the car is had a Mahle KL8 installed. The previous owner may have changed the fittings.

Still looks great with a Made in W. Germany tag on it.
