After realizing attention here is
needed asap. seems the steering bearings are shot
and the pedals are kicked over to the far left
when fully depressed Im not getting enough clutch so
first gear will work smoothly. Heres what from
the firewall cracked I repaired it and forgot about
it. 'Well its reared its butt ugly head again' Ill
get another collumn friday from a parts car.

Imagine Ill take off the MC as I have the later
one to try out if I get the switch. Ill be close
enough to remove the brake booster also and fix the
firewall. I guess Ill remove the wireing harness for
the inside of the parts car while getting the steering
column. Ill get the turn signals also as mine dont
shut off when the wheels turned any more.. How
silly do ya feel when you realize youve been driving
with one side stuck on going straight driving home
from work. No more.

Hers pics of my old solution to the firewall fix.
'Now" Ill add a big piece of metal screwed on
no welding as I dont have one. This is my weekend
project.

Hey Joe, how about you fix this once and for all, have a PLATE welded in with webbing to spred out the force, and have it done at a shop,

I mean after all it is your GF car, she will be paying the bill right

I've been having the same problem with my picture hosting site.

All my old pictures work, but I can't add any new ones.

As is the steering wheel is off and the turn signals are next
the rest of the doner collumn & bearings areall hooked up down
to the end. Ive never taken
one out. Just removed the end from the steering rack & pin
unit. Any worthy tips I could use would br great.

Couple of years ago I had the same problem: cracked firewall around clutch cable. I just welded some 2mm metal plate there and it was fine.
Your case is a bit more serious as you had already repaired it

yea I guess.. spent 3 hrs under the dash of the boneyard porsche
to remove the steering collumn. Came out pretty easy.

Heres a 77 junkyard porsche.

Steering collumn I took from it with turn signals.

Looking at my previous repairs seems to be all good still.
Its looking like the bracket that holds the pedals is cracked.
..itll be nice with new bearings in the collumn
and turn signals that shut them selves off after a turn

All day saturday and then 10 hrs today...
& everthying works. The brackets under the dash that holds
the pedals. The spot welds cam loose I fixed it though
had to undo the clutch and brake. Then I reinstalled the
steering collumn.

Brakes and clutch work like they should
The new bearings in the collumn are nice.
