Hi folks,
Does anyone have any bright ideas about how to put the transmission back on? I had to take it off to change the fuel tank which was rotten.
I'm starting to lose the will to live... Help!! _________________ 1983 Black 924 N/A

I don't have any personal experience with it [yet], but plenty others have. Try a search all, including words like "HELP!", "transmission", "can't", "F!". _________________ "..it's made in Germany. You know the Germans always make good stuff."

I used a large jack that I could secure the trans to had someone help with the jack while I got the bolts in the trans mount then I put the torque tube up and slide the couple over the torque tube shaft then secured the torque tube to trans bolts and tightened the coupler between the torque tube shaft and trans. It would be alot easier with a trans adapter for the jack or a real trans jack but it is doable with a little work with a good floor jack.
Any specific problem you are having getting the trans back in? _________________ 80 924

I got a mate to come round who is a mechanic. He got the transmission on using loads of bits of wood and bricks but then went home.
Still can't the pinch bolts in.... Drove it slowly to work and now it is starting to leak petrol again... Balls... Hopefully its just one the jubilee clips not tight enough.
Going to have a go at moving the collar tonight if I don't snap it on the way home and if someone doesn't walk pass it with a cigarette which would solve some problems!
Thanks for advice though lads. _________________ 1983 Black 924 N/A

If you are referring to the pinch bolts on the driveshaft coupler, park the car until you can install them. The parts you are about to destroy (the driveshaft and coupler) are expensive. _________________ White 87 924S "Ghost"
