In NZ the only used distributor I can find will cost me NZ300 (US150-odd).
Anyone else bought one and paid this much? _________________ '82 924 NA Euro (hers)

Up here you can get one yourself from one of the self-service salvage yards for $25-$30.
Shipping would be ugly, but I could probably get you one the next time I go to Pick a Part.
The biggest challenge would be figuring out which distributor you need. There were three different ones used here in the States, and if you count the ones with points that were used in European models that makes at least four types, and I have no idea of when the Euro cars were switched to breakerless.
On another note, $150 might not be that bad if you have one of the breakerless distributors. The module that goes into the late model distributors costs $75-$100, for the replacement module (plus machine shop labor to service. replace the module) in the distributor when it fails. I have or have had several cars that use similar modules designed and manufactured by BOSCH, and they all died at around 100K miles. |
