hey Guys,
i am unsure if this is fuel mixture problem or not.
what happends is in neutral if i bleep the throttle, it's very slow to rev up untill it hits about 3000rpm.
i can feel it when im driving aswell, it actually feels like there is not much torque at low rpm. (it does not missfire or anything it just takes a long time for the revs to get to about 2500rpm)
the colder the engine is, the worse the situation. when its really cold i feel like i have to bring the revs up above normal before i engage the clutch or the engine will bog down.

I got in my mates 924 and bleeped the throttle and the low end revs seem to pick up much quicker.

i have got a 2.5" exhaust from the engine pipe, but i don't recall lossing that much lower end torque.

every few months i have to clean the plugs as they foul up. (black carbon build up)
is my mixture too rich? im not blowing any black smoke though. or maybe my timing? what do you guys think?

Sounds like it likely is too rich. Plugs are certainly a good indicator.

An incorrect (retarded) ignition timing, bad vacuum advance diaphram or incorrect cam timing caould also cause slow acceleration and incomplete fuel burning.

I am experiencing the same symptoms with my 924 n/a 1982. It takes a couple seconds in neutral if i floor it to hit the high rpms, and i experence NO torque at low rpms in gear. Do you think it could be any of the same problems? I dont think it could be because i just had it at the mechanic to get it to pass smog which it did fine. It wouldnt pass if there was a timing problem or bad vacuum advance or incorrect cam timing right? I dont know what it could be.

more than likely the timing than co mix...though you might want to experiment you only need to move the mixture nut ever so slightly
then let it settle and see if that helps. . I go rich then lean till it drops off badly each way roughly one tunr then stop on the rich side over halfway... seems to work ok. ...off mix will starve the engine causing it to stutter verse just not reving fast enough so im thinking timing is off. does it knock or ping at all on hard acceleration.

No knocking or pinging on hard acceleration, it seems the only way to get any acceleration is to floor it all the time, and thats not very good for gas economy. . It also seems to have the most power when its COLD. kind of weird.
