Well Vegas has been having great weather recently in the high 60's and low 70's. I finally got the 931 running again after sitting for sevral months while I was too busy with school to work on it. I still have a bit of work to get it driveable but I should be able to finish tommorrow. Although I don't have AC on it and with our current weather that might be a problem and I know it will be when summer gets here. I'll have to use the 2 down and 70mph method.
I'm working on doing an EFI conversion of the 924 it has several fuel delivery problems and rather than going through the CIS and fix problem after problem I'm just going to install EFI. I know I wont be able to finish before I start back with school but this semester I have 2 days off from school and work so that should give me some time to tinker with the 924. _________________ 80 924

Well so much for the 931 running. The army might be able to use it to lay down a smoke screen but anything else is out of the question. I have low compression on 3 cylinders. I'm planing on pulling the engine and doing a rebuild. I don't think I want to know how much I'll spend. It ran good for awhile after I installed the rebuilt turbo then it started smoking again.
At least I have all my tools at home now I just need to get them organized so I can start working effeceintly. I need to get the side of the house cleaned up some so I can put it over there while I pull the engine I'm surprised the city hasn't come by and complained again about the cars being on jackstands in the driveway.
I'm going to get the battery box fixed and the car painted and better brakes on it before I get it back on the road. This is the third 924 I've driven with drum brakes even after having the brakes redone I don't like them.
I'm trying to get the 924 to run with the cis for now so I can use it to get to school. _________________ 80 924

That sucks! Has the car been sitting for more than a year? If so, it may be you have some stuck rings. You might try pooring some solvent down the sparkplug holes and let it sit for a day. It is usually the oil rings that stick.

endwrench: Thanks for the idea. I'll pick some solvent up tommorow.
The 924 runs really well on only 1 cylinder. I almost have the 924 up and running again. I found one of the reasons I had trouble getting it running right is that I have bad plug wires and only the number 3 cylinder is firing I haven't seen a 4 banger that could run on only 1 cylinder let alone that smooth. The ignition switch is also going out shutting the engine off intermittently. Hopefully I will have it running for this weekend school starts next week mabey next semester I will learn not to take so many classes.
One of these days they will both be fully restored I just wish that day would be sooner than later. _________________ 80 924

Well I got the 924 running better than it ever has since I've had it. I found 1 injector completly plugged and 2 others with bad spray patterns. 4 new injectors and it now runs. There is still a problem with the cold start system though and an intermittent stumble and shudder problem. I need to get a wide band O2 sensor setup to try and fine tune the engine but it is driveable. I can't get it to run anywhere new the CO level it should I'm not sure if it's something with the 924 or if it's the CO meter is off.
The 931 wont stop smoking so the engine is comming out. I got the parts cars moved so I can put the 931 behind the fence when I pull the engine in case the city comes around again. I need to get a engine hoist and some free time now to pull the engine and find a good machine shop. _________________ 80 924
