|

Well after about a year and a half, I have somewhere to work on my car, not much only a car port, but better than nothing. I will post some photos as soon as I can.
My problem is, got the motor all back together after Keno and I dissassembled it. Everything went together like clock work. Very nice. I got it installed. then installed the torque tube and transmission. After this, I went to install the timing belt, what happened, I am confused about. motor turned freely until trans was in. now it wont make a full revolution. Almost goes all the way around, but stops. Turn it back the other way same thing, goes and then stops.
At first thought, I thought I dropped a valve. So I yanked the head back off. Nope no problem there, motor still binding.
SO I guess my question is this.
I have installed the LSD transaxle from my 83 944, (which had cought on fire, by the way). Because of this, I decided to run the 931 clutch package. These items are new. So I am wondering if the fact I havent bled the hydrualic clutch, could this be the source of my binding? The trans is good, and so is the torque tube. and motor turned freely before installing those pieces.
So I hope this is where the problem is. Or is it possible, I had a bearing slip? Does anyone have any ideas? _________________ Life is to short to be looking for something? |

Bleeding won't fix this one.
Sounds as if you have interference in the bell housing.
I assume you used a 931 flywheel, 931 clutch set, and a 931 bell housing.
Also you did fully seat the bolts on the coupler on the back of the torque tube, correct? _________________ White 87 924S "Ghost"

I think the answer is in pauls direction though..
unless you missed on the torque specs you could of slipped
a rod bearing.. _________________ 1979 porsche 924 Na

That is a very good point Paul, thanks, I will feel stupid if that is the case. It has been over a year since I last touched the car. It is in the same unfinished condition, as then. I could of missed this.
Yes indeed I am using all 931 parts. withexception of the slave cylinder which is from a 944, but it is the same unit. I am hoping to see the car in the car port this weekend. Once there I'll take some pictures and take alook down there and see if that is what had happened.
I hope I haven't had a bearing slip. I would hate to see this crank get damaged. Thanks Joe _________________ Life is to short to be looking for something? |

I would bleed the system, then push in the clutch and see if it will turn. _________________ White 87 924S "Ghost"
