Well, I called my mech, and he said he was just waiting on the paper work from car quest.. they should be reimbursing him for the work done on my car after the timing belt slipped 2 times in less than 3500 miles! So now with brand spanking new valves, brand new timing belt and tensioner it should be coming home late this week!!! I'm giddy like a school girl...
Only problem is, he couldn't install the short shifter because he said one of the bolts was seized on in the transmission, he said he couldn't get it loose and tried heating it up and everything but there is a gasket behind it, and didn't want to mess anything up by cranking on it. Anyone ever have this problem? I'm not sure which bolt it was(he tried explaining it on the phone).. Its one of the bolts needed(apparently) to install the short shifter, it has a rod on it, but the bolt doesn't come loose.
Anyways.. Im excited, so I just had to post it to get it out of my system! _________________ [This Space For Rent] |

Ya, I know that bolt, I broke it off on my 1981 car. Be very careful, or you'll find yourself trying to drill out a broken bolt in a place you can't get a drill (I ended up cutting the shift rod and pulling the tranny)

Well, Either that, or a very good excuse to install a phantom grip.....

I wish I could afford to install a phantom grip.. I already have plenty of parts to install when I get it back.. springs, e brake handle, gauge pod, gauges...
Anyone have a tip on a way to get that bolt out? I went by there today but didnt stop in, thursday or friday I should be able to take it for a drive(short drive...) I didnt see my car outside, so maybe he brought it back in to take another stab at the short shifter.
I cant wait to get a few more 40 degree days to put the gauge pod in!

Pardon my ignorance, Boys, but what's a phantom grip? Sounds like a cool thing to have! _________________ 1985 Porsche 924 'Lux', Kalahari Beige (my ex)

A phantom grip turns your differential into a limited slip. Just have to pull out your differential and install it.
