Okey, we all know about the 911, 924, 931, 928, 944, 968
some of you might know about the 356 and 901
but what about the rest? The 902, 917, 956, 906, the forgotten models? Do anybody know a good source for the complete Porsche product line?
Cheers,

Literally dozens of good books out there, mate.
I've got at least half-a-dozen.
There are even books that concetrate solely on the racing Porsches (although I don't have any of those... yet).
You need to find yourself a good book store, like Pitstop here in Oz. _________________ '80 924 Turbo |

It isn't so that all numbers are cars. Like 915 is the code for the gearbox of the '70 and '80.
The number 901 was the original code for the new 6 cilinder Porsche in the '60 's. But carmanufacterer Peugeot claimed to have a patent on all cartypes with an "0" in the 3-digit number.
That is why Porsche renamed the 901 in 911.
Actually, the 911 became an icon, and Porsche never changed it's name, but the internal codes where different. For example: 930= 911 turbo; 911 Carrera 2 or 4: 964; 993; 996; 997....
For the 924: 924; 931=924 turbo; 937=924 Carrera GT.
By the way: a 965 is NOT a 964 turbo. This code is from a prototype turbo-porsche...
Some of it's parts were used later in the 964 turbo.
