ok here's a list of earths I've cleaned/checked so far:

big copper coloured wire between bulkhead + inlet manifold (2 connections here)
Black earth cable to engine block right next to alternator
main battery earth cable
re-wired between alternator + starter + cleaned all connections here

Where else are there earthing points that I should be checking? Main reason for this is I have very slow starting power despite a nearly new starter, even when connected to another vehicle (jump leads). There is a dodgy jaguar stereo installed that doesnt work so i intend on ripping that out. Also as I've mentioned before the electric mirror switch primes the fuel pump!!

That's normal.
Earthing for the electrics are behind the headlights, above the fuse box and in front of the LH tailight.
Your starting problems could be a faulty solenoid on the starter.

You could instal one of these and bypass the starter solenoid

I've found in the past that's it useful to install secondary earth cable from the battery main body earth (below windscreen wiper) to the engine.
Under standard conditions you are relying on the body to provide a path for the earth from the post by the wiper motor to the stud by the coil. Over time both get a bit of corrosion etc and even cleaned up you still have some resistance in the path. A separate cable from the wiper earth point to the engine block should cure starter problems.

There was a fantastic discussion last year, complete with photos, on this site. Short of having someone come to your house and do the work, the thread made it as simple as can be....I forgot who was the author...but a fantastic tech thread.....
