I have serched the thread but sadly no matter what topic i serch on its the same post comign up over and over again..

Basically i think my dip stick is leaking. is there supposed to be a gsaket or somn on there of is it just a tension type? im assuming im gettign too much crank pressure. btw what is that canister coming into the airfilter cartridge blowing in smohkey nasty oily air? is that like a pcv valve? I have read the manual but al this stuff seems so ancient and i wonder wtf were they thinking with each page i read.

The canister is the air/oil seperator. The breather system takes cylinder blowby (crankcase pressure) from a breather on the side of the block and feeds it into the side of the air/oil seperator near its' top. Most of the oil goes to the bottom and back through a line to the rear of the oil pan. The uppermost line returns air and some oil vapor to the air cleaner. If the breather on the side of the block is clogged, crankcase pressure can push oil and air up through the drain line into the bottom of the air oil seperator. If this is happening, you'll get a way oilier mix sent to the air cleaner. Of course, some of that pressure, including oil can come out through the dipstick. The breather on the block probably needs cleaning.
As far as details on what's included with the dipstick, there were at least 2 different versions of it, so as usual, we need the year and model of your car. Put it in your signature area so you don't have to be bothered with remembering to post it every time..

There is no seal on the dip stick. However, you can make one easily. Just clean the pan surface where the dip stick hole is, with brake clean, and then put high temp RTV around the opening. Put a heavy grease ( I used wheel bearing grease) on the dip stick around the raised metal area that meets the pan, and insert the dip stick into the pan, and the soft RTV. Let it sit over night, and you have a good oil proof seal. I have had this on my car for years, and it stopped the leakage around the dip stick area.
