When i bought my car, their was no fuel pump. They solved it with a switch to turn on and off the fuel pump.
That solution its not bad, but the auxillery valve, the warm-up regulator and the cold start is not working because the relay is missing.
So next week, i have plenty of time to solve that mystery. I have one question before i put a new relay (standard specs?) in, by the battery their is a wire comming out of de main wiring (from proberly the fuse box) a not attached wire by the battery. The color is black and blue or black and green ( i don`t remember it anymore).
What is the function of this wire, in the haynes manual i couldn`t find this wire. I have a Euro 1977 from june (so its a 1978 model).
Thanks in advice _________________ Porsche 924 Euro 1977 |

The WUR and the AAV run off of junction 87 of the fuel pump relay. Getcha a relay first. _________________ 1977.5 924 "Martini" head / New Old Stock rebuild

Yes i could do that (on the planning next week) but i don`t know, what that wire is from...
On a dutch porsche forum i asked it to what for kind of wire is that they give as a answer it`s for the fuel pump!, But i couldn`t find that wire with the same color coding in the wire diagrams!!! _________________ Porsche 924 Euro 1977 |

I havae a big problems too with fuel pump relay, because there is a wrong ralay in a socket which just swiches pump on and off and nothing more (wires position has been changed) Now I´got a new relay but I cant use it, because when I put it in to socket and make changes in wires positions it starts making some wrong noise and lights on dashboard are shining eaven when I remove the key :S I can remember that there are wires like:
Ground (Maybe 2 of these)
+
+to PUMP
Green
Black
maybe I don´t remember correctly in one of the last ones (Green or black) there was a strange power about 2 or 3 volts. Is it normal? Which wires goes to which number on relay?
Does the fuel pump realy changes something in a a fuel ratio? when the engine is cold there is too few fuel and too much air and it doesn´t work normally and I can drive only with fifth injector (with button) but when the engine is hot then it works normally. When I tried to turn the 3mm screw (Near the air filter) it worked as cold but when it got warm then there was more fuel than needed. Any kind of help is welcome. _________________ www.porsche-foorum.ee

What year is your car?
Check all your vac. connections for leaks Vac leaks cause some funny things to happen., It may be a fuel pressure problem which could be a number of things including and not limited to weak fuel injectors, bad accumulator, may even be the WUR (guys correct me if Im wrong on that one). That screw you turned near the airfilter may have been the fuel mixture adjustment. Now you will need the proper test equipment to have it set right.

Yeah, Jeff's problem sounds like a duff WUR and badly set fuel mixture.
It's tempting to change the mixture in response to a WUR problem, but all it does is mess up the running of the car at all temperatures.
Set the mixture correctly with the engine warm (running temp.) and if it's too lean when it's cold, suspect the WUR (obviously assuming everything else is OK, like the vacuum hoses as Chris mentioned.). _________________ 1985 Porsche 924 'Lux', Kalahari Beige (my ex)
