I'm trying to find a way to extend my window roller handle from what it connects to, I am using door panels from a 944 so I had to make them fit etc and the handle at the moment is right up against the panel making it where the cover wont go on it and it rubs the speaker grate as it rolls, anyone have any ideas?? _________________ 1977 924 - sold

remove the speaker, the manual windows never had speakers there for a reason. the rubbing at the base happens on all of them. _________________ 3 928s, |

While you would lower the maximum amount of torque that you could exert on the window mechanism, you could put a simple washer, or series of washers inside of the hole on the window winder handle where the splined shaft from the window mechanism fits.
This would raise the handle, by decreasing the length of the shaft that fits in the window winder handle.
This would increase the chances of damage if the window mechanism become hard to operate/forced (make sure that the window channel seals are in good condition, and the window mechanism is well greased) the hande could get broken or the splines on the shaft could get distorted or stripped. |

I have also tought about this because I have a pair of 6,5" midrange speakers I want to place there. But I think an even better solution would be shorter handles.
The handles are common VW parts, so I am guessing there might be other VW doorhandles witch are shorter but got the same "splines" pattern and looks just about the same. Or there might even exist some aftermarket handles for VW cars that might fit.
I hope anyone knows moore about this to shead some light overt the topic.
In the meantime I am trying to get hold of some extra VW handles and try to move the roller knob and cut it down to size. _________________ 1982 Porsche 924 na My 924 blog

I've been looking at some pics of the early 911 cranck handles, and I belive they are shorter than the 924 handle. The question is if the will fit? _________________ 1982 Porsche 924 na My 924 blog
