What was that the US coach said a while back about Australia only being in the WCup to make up numbers...? Who's got 3 points baby?!

Bleary-eyed in Sydney,

Yeah, I watched that game. Argentina are lookin' pretty slick...

Ha! They couldn't even beat us!

(Just kidding, I watched them play Serbia-Montenegro and it was like they were a whole different team to our "friendly" match! )

I don't think Australia has a snowflake's of getting through to the final... I'd be surprised if they make the next round!
I've got my suspicions that Brazil is gonna give a hiding we're not going to forget...

(Dunno anything about Croatia... are they any good?)

I don't think Holand was favored to win the match, but I'll take it. Its still most likely going to come down to Brazil (even with injuries) or Argentina.

I thought England were pretty flat in their opening match... I'm sure they'll pick up though - they've got a great team on paper!

Croatia are a very good side - if we beat them I'll be amazed, but a draw would be nice and might let us slip through to round 2, but that's as far as we'll get unfortunately.

Don't discount Germany either - I thought they played really well in attack against Costa Rica, just need to concentrate more in defence. Plus they have the home crowd advantage!

Gavin.

you're absolutely right, the opening England match was rubbish - we very nearly threw it away on a few occasions - though the old adage works very well too... "...the referee's a w@nker..."

they did well in the first half, but why the manager took off Michael Owen and didn't replace him is a mystery...

and yes, you're right about Germany's home advantage, it'll help no end!

Did you hear that the ref for the Australia/Japan match actually apologised to Mark Schwarzer for not calling the foul on him that led to Japan's goal against us? I guess that shows some of em aren't complete w@nkers...

Missed that one, but the Mexican ref in our match was making some strange calls - good luck anyone else who has him for a match... - plus, I have to say this, but he looked like a villain from a Bond movie...

When a player fouled Peter Crouch he gave the other player a free kick, what's that all about? - ah well, that's football for you. Not as good as Rugby. (p.s. don't start you lot down under!)

I actually prefer soccer/football these days... a little more thought involved that simply "smash em"...

Khal, you might be surprised by the Canadians - I think you'll find quite a few who know about rubgy (union)... forget about league and AFL though I guess.

And Australia - on top of it's pool after Brazil scraped home against Croatia! Who'd have thunk it?!?!

i just read yesterday that in russia police detained 100 people for brawling until they realised they were just playing rugby. they thought they were having a rumble as its a trpouble spot on a border somewhere and they told them off for not warning the police of what they were planning to do!!
