Hello. I'm not sure if introductions are the done thing here, but it seems only polite so here goes!
I'm Pete from Nottingham UK and I purchased a 1985 Guards red 924 n/a a couple of weeks ago as a summer toy. Not a concours car by any stretch, but quite a nice useable car. Just enjoying driving it for now, but may do some fettling later in the year after I have (hopefully!) had my garage rebuilt. I have been lurking on the board since I bought the car and thought it was about time I said hello! So, err, hello! |

Thanks for the welcomes guys!
Yes Ozzie you did indeed see me across on the UK site. This one seems a bit busier though. Cheaper too!
Here you go Porschev. A few snaps of the old tub, like I said not a real stunner but not bad either. The car did have faded paintwork, but the guy who owned it before me (a friend) happens to be a paint sprayer so treated the car to a 2 pack respray.

Looks lovely. I'm jealous of all you who have such shiny cars. Don't suppose your friend wants to do some more spraying now he's practiced on yours? What's fettling mean? _________________ 1978 924na |

Enjoying every minute of the Porsche experience so far thanks Chris. Don't know what you mean about the steering though, surely its on the right side, which is not the left side!
Don't be jealous of shiney cars Jaf, it just means you have to spend more time polishing!
Fettling by the way means cleaning/repairing/improving etc. Generally just tidying things up. Or in tux speak, playing! _________________ Pete

Good plan Sean. I was planning on just turning up on the day in my usual casual (read-lazy!) style and not having a clue what is happening.
Let us know if you find anything interesting. _________________ Pete

Ah ha! Learn about cars and learn new words, can't be bad. Think Tiddles needs a bit of painting before polishing though - wouldn't want the paint to fall off! _________________ 1978 924na |

To be fair, I'm working there for a few hours - not really to do with the Porker day at all! I've been before though and its a nice place. If they're planning on parking the porkers on the grass, there's plenty of it and it should make a great backdrop with the castle behind... _________________ 1998 BMW Z3 2.8 arctic silver & red

Which event's this then? I tried to go to one years ago but was showing off on the motorway when the big ends went. Had to be towed all the way home again. _________________ 1978 924na |

Its the TIPEC National Day event at Elvaston Castle in Derbyshire on 30th July. All Porsche models. As its only 5 miles away I thought I'd go along, I think Sean was thinking along similar lines.
Give me a minute and I'll see if I can find a link. _________________ Pete
