General practice is to preface off-topic pots with an "OT" in the subject line.

That said, if you couldn't figure it out from the subject line, one has to wonder what size rock you've been living under? Even over here, it's been nearly impossible to be unaware of.

Almost could be taken as a sign of the US's growing emergence as part of the civilized world - soccer is finally gaining in appreciation!

hmmm. and some quite dirty tactics too. but all's fair. now I wish the papers and media would just shut up about the football now and accept its over again for another 4 years. (though the hype will start again in about 2years I estimate)

Sean (not a big football fan but will watch every now and again)

now, how's this US grandprix going? and the tennis? and the rugby.... etc etc etc

Rooney's bragging was totally stupid of him and to let the team down this way. It was totally harmless situation and no cards would have showed if he wouldn't started this argument.
But, England is coming to Estonia playing with our national team for the next World Cup . They're in the same group.

not that I really want to prolong this discussion, but yes, Rooney shouldn't have let his temper get the better of him, but a red card for what happened was totally over-reacting. anyway, overpaid under-achievers, the lot of them.

Watching England in the world cup finals is a groundhog day!!!!

They need to hire someone from the army for the next coach, someone who will teach them a little bit of COURAGE.

Bloody mummy boys the whole lot of them, makes me feel ashamed to be English.

DID YOU SEE THE LOOK ON THEIR FACES BEFORE THEY TOOK THE PENALTYS!!!!!!

Looked like someone just told them that mummy had moved to Scotland, and they would have to cook their own dinner.

Nah.. We still don't care.

Only about 25% of those polled said that they would watch IF the US made the FINALS.

Americans getting the crapped kicked out of them at Wimbledon.. now that's depressing

I watched the game and have to say that neither one of them deserved to be able to go on as it was not a very well played game.

Daveo,

I owe you an appology for my comments on saturday. I am one of the few Brits that actually hates football with a vengence. All I have heard about for the past two months at home & work is football. As far as i'm concerned they are all a bunch of overpaid nancy boys who cry at the slightest knock. So when you brought the subject to the one place that I can get away from all of that rubbish and I snapped. So sorry once again.

I'm not a hockey fan and I live in Edmonton, I feel your pain, May and June were tough in this city for non-hockey folks.

Benji0301 it's true what you say that this is not a football forum and for those of us that HATE it we also have the right to say so.I know 3 point something billion people out there will disagree with me but football is for gays (not that there's anything wrong with that). Just a bunch of mamby pamby posers taking dives when they feel that they can get away with it. Disgusting. It's pretty big news here when you watch the sports highlights on the tube and they show all of these unsportsmanlike dramas in slow motion. It's probably why North Americans don't really watch alot of soccer here.We prefer our sports to be played by men not poofs.

errrr..... American football, those mommys boys have to wear padding for crying out loud.

I played rugby, and would have felt like a girly if I was told to wear shoulder pads and all that shit.

We never even used to wear boxes, gum shields and that was that.

Like you say Rugby is a real sport, I can quite easily watch a game of rugby & then down the pub & have a good laugh even with the opposite sides supporters and its all good humour, no fighting and no amatuer disecting of how it should have been done. Unfortunately he in the UK its the only sport where the fans have forgotten its just a sport. Most see it as a way of life? Anyway i'm not going to even give it a second more of the valuable time I have left.
