Hey guys,
While I was in germany on exchange, I lived about an hour away from Stuttgart! So, of course, like the good porschephile I am, I took a trip down there with my exchange partner to see the Porsche factory and museum. Unfortunately, all the tours were booked solid to visit the factory, due to the world cup. The museum is pretty crummy, It had maybe 10 cars, and was very small. The new Porsche museum is under construction, should be done next year. I am excited for my next trip! I think the new museum is going to be great!
here are some pictures I took.
Carrera GT-Looks like a daily driver, look closely at the rock chips and that sort of thing..
Me next to the monster!
My friends and I in front of the main headquarters
A nice GT3- driven by an equally attractive woman!
Carrera GT rims/brakes- The brakes are bigger than most rims!
I think this is an RSR correct me if Im wrong
944 rally car-representin' the water pumpers! haha
Hmm....I think there were at least 200 porsches parked around the main Porsche compound...these mostly new Caymans.
Cutaway of the Cayman S-very impressive.there were a few cut aways of different models.
One of my favorites...356a Speedster
The origional 356
Carrera GT interior-
And a carrera GT engine, I wish I couldve heard the darn thing.
Cutaway of a new Turbo (i think)
and Finally, the showroom floor. Clean!
Enjoy!

Glad you are having a good time. When I went to the factory all they had were about 10 lined up on a wall that was really shabby. I also went to the speed shop to buy a few things and was surprised to see two barrels with a board across as the speed shop. They did have a computor though. But, then it was 1987.
I still have some napkins and sugar packs when we ate in the tower. Warnig....Do not wear a leather jacket when you tour the factory. I did and they put a sticker on it and when I took off the sticker the paint on the leather came off. _________________ "Never let them see you sweat"

Oh I forgot to add a few things. I went to the gift shop, which is in the same room as the museum, and bought some nice things. I'll tell you, they really run up prices in the US. I bought one of those keychains with the 'big red' caliper on it for 5 euro, in the states its like $15. I also bought some sunroof pieces at the dealership, for half the price of what they cost in the US. There are a few things they discontinued though, I wanted to buy a shift knob for my 4 speed, but they dont make them anymore. I did see one 924 while I was at the dealership tho, but only one. It was a champagne color, and mustve been a late model, it had the spoiler, and the interior seemed nice except for the headliner....and those euro bumpers are beautiful. man o man, was I mad when I found out the cost of shipping for bumpers.... Cost more than my car did.

Vince, don't you have a front euro bumper for sale?
You mean they didn't have a 924 on a turntable with bright lights shining on it in the front lobby? What a crappy way to treat the car that saved their bacon in the late 70's! _________________ '80 924 n/a SOLD |

When I toured the factory last year they told us how every two hours the workers get a 10 minute "quality" break. This break is where they discuss new ideas that could help them work better. The museum was pretty dark and pathetic, but had some sweet history there. _________________ '79 924 now Totaled! Carrera GT bodywork for sale!
