so... i've recently been doing some thinking about the future of my 931, and i've decided that i really like the vintage d-production looks. it really seems like a body style that i think fits my own personal style, and would maybe turn a few heads in the process (i like doing that when i have the chance). anyway.. the thing about it is that i really love the vintage style of the old shovel nose valence. but the only d-prod kits i see out there (on gt-racing, for instance) have a more up-to-date looking vertical front valence with air dams and fun stuff like that. that's cool and all, but it doesn't have that "it's in your best interest to stay outta my way" look about it. not to mention that the shovel style really compliments the rolling curves of the fender flares. so... what i'm wondering is if anyone has any clue where to look for a vintage-look shovel spoiler/valence panel to go with some d-prod fenders & flares... or if it's the sort of thing i'd need to have custom made at this point. basically, if anyone has any useful information on this subject, i'd love to hear it.
for your reference:
shovel nose
non-shovel nose
naturally, these pics are from 924.org. but i figured i'd save you all the trip over there, for those of you who need to see what i'm talking about.
*edit*
i'd also be interested in any information on the holbert body kit such as the one seen in this old catalogue scan:

thanks again, fellas. _________________ '81 US 931 "Rochelle" |

For me the non looks better just slightly though.
Contact every seller of after market body panels that you can find, someone I'm sure will have either the parts or know where you can get them.
If all else fails, have them built. |

I am with you, I prefer the shovel nose,
I think that Vince had one for sale awhile back, however if you look at the new guy who is associated with porsche palace he has them on his website, though I would use caution with him. _________________ 3 928s, |

I sold a new shovel nose to someone on this list about a year or two ago. I hope they used it. _________________ "Never let them see you sweat"

yeah, lizard, i actually noticed that the new guy had that pic on his site... i was a bit turned off by his posts, not to mention the site, so i figured it best to avoid dealing with him, as a cautionary measure.
...and NEMESIS... Thanks! i'm amazed that you had a link for that. i'm emailing them right now.

Thanks.
Been lurking for a while now and reading alot of past posts and history section. Got my 924 a couple years ago but have just recently found the time to build the car so I have been tapping the collective gathering my information and learning.
I like both the D-Production body styles, and think I will be doing the non-shovel nose one. www.gt-racing.com carries the front fenders and air dam but I don't see the rear flares as shown on the originals.
Anyone know where a guy might get the proper rear flares? |
