Ok, so yesterday I'm replacing some coolant hoses, specifically the two stubby ones that come off the top of the water pump. Anyway, as I'm yanking on one of them to get it off , I hear a little "snap" under my right elbow. And there is an injector line snapped off right at the fitting.
What a bonehead. Anyway, what to do ? Of course I tried 3 parts stores knowing they wouldn't have the proper injection line but at least hoping for a fitting. I ended up at Canadian Tire. Saw some brake line. So the light came on. I bought about 4 feet of the smallest diameter they had. Took my busted fitting , sanded , cleaned it up and wrapped some copper wire around the nub that was left on the fitting to reinforce it and down the brakeline, fluxed it and using a propane torch soldered the broken fitting to it. Cut the line to length and flared it. Put the other fitting in the end and soldered it in place. Brought it out to the car and installed it . Works perfect !! Took some bending and such to get it to fit right but it works. At least I'll be able to use the car until my new injection line comes in. Anyway, just thought I'd share in case someone finds themself in the same predicament someday _________________ 1979 N/A 924 |

Probably better than the original! Maybe you should just make up 3 more

I'm thinking of getting some brass stock the same thickness as the injector line fitting. I wouldn't think it would be all that difficult to make new fittings up using a drill press and a dremel , with a bit of filing . And then making a custom set of lines as endwrench suggested. The line I made looks like hell under the hood but if I measured and bent carefully it might come out looking ok , and it would be a lot stronger than my original homemade line. Worth a try anyway I guess. _________________ 1979 N/A 924 |

Fill them with sand before you bend them and this will help to stop it from kinking...
