i want to install 944S2 rear (aluminium ofcourse) arms and the guy selling me those is telling me that i also need 1987+ disks....anyone know why ?
Also...anyone knows if i also need S2 calipers? or i can just use the 944 ones from the steel arms? _________________ Supercharger and EFI kits

To switch to alloy arms from steel you are going to need the cv axles, and the wheel axle hubs (wheel spindles) as they are both longer on the cars with alloy arms since the alloy arms are set for a wider track width.
The rear calipers and rotors also have different part numbers. The rear calipers part numbers look to be the same as the 86 951 calipers. So if the 86 951 caliper will bolt to the 924/931/944 steel trailing arm, then they will probably work.
If you are going to try to use the trailing arms from a 944S2, I recommend that you buy the complete arms from the point where they connect to the torsion bar carrier, and the transmission (cv axles), because you are going to need all of the those parts. |

the guy offered me the complete CV axles and the weel hubs...and i quote: everything you need but i'm not sure that i have the disks.
My question is...why...the calipers are compatible and the disks not...how can this be ? is the bolt system of the disks on the S2 different by that much ? _________________ Supercharger and EFI kits

^ Answer: all the ABS junk on the S2, which changed the wheel offset too.
I believe that the hubs and rotors are different. Since you have fender flares, you might be able to use the ABS rotors/hubs without the ABS. The offset wouldn't be a problem at least, although you might have to switch to late offset wheels to keep them under the flares.
By the way - if you swap the rear arms then you also need the spring plates. You might as well just pull the arms/torsion bar carrier in one piece and swap out the whole thing. You might get away without having to index the torsion bars that way. _________________ 1980 931S

thanks for the help, i cant just do a complete swap as the S2 is at least 1000Km away.....i will get the arms with the plates,cv,and hopefuly disks by mail....its going to cost !
and no prob with the offset..as i have 911 17" weels...8.5" ET55...right now i'm using 67mm spacers per weel to make the weels come out of that damn flare. I belive that i wil still have to use the factory spacers after i install the aluminium arms. _________________ Supercharger and EFI kits
