ok, i want to adjust or check out my linkage in my 79 924 for the tranny linkage. i have the 016Z tranny though with the backwards reverse setup.
instead of pulling the exhaust, heat shields, and torque tube, couldn't i just remove the rear seat and cut upen the floor ih the middle to get to it and i coul also just make a door to close it back up if i ever needed back in....
let me know if you guys have ever tried this... or even if it will work! _________________ 1979 Porsche 924 n/a with dual Mikuni's(sold)

you can do that to be able to access the bolt for being able to undo it, but you will still have to do everything else to be able to remove the shift rods, the hole is just for making it easier to be able to access the top two tranny bolts and the single shift rod bolt. _________________ 3 928s, |

okay, but what do I need to repair when my shifter is sooo loose? like when its in neutral, i can move it back and forth about 2 inches, just slop right, i know its not trying to be put in gear, but its still moving the shift rod to the tranny. every thing is tight at the shifter itself, so it has to be back at the tranny right? thats why i was wondering about the hole to see if it was something I could tighten up or need a major amount of work to fix.....
any suggestions? _________________ 1979 Porsche 924 n/a with dual Mikuni's(sold)

there are 2 bushings on the shifter linkage at the tranny end and one ball cup bushing,
to replace them you must remove the shift rods, and to do that you have to drop the tranny, if you do that I would recommend that you cut the ball that the ball cup goes onto off, and then weld a bolt in place and replace the ball cup with a hiem joint held on by a nut on top of the bolt.
for the shifter rod bushings I would recommend that you have 2 pieces that look like the factory rubbr pieces made out of aluminum, this will solve the problem for as long as you own the car. _________________ 3 928s, |

Any tips on drawing out whee to cut?
Sounds like avoiding the brake lines are the top concern.
Advice? I will be performing this mod soon. _________________ 1980 931 converted to n/a
