hey all,
i'm new to the board today and i've only had my 924 for around a month.
the car is a 1982 UK right hand drive 924 2.0L. it used to be guards red but the bonnet (hood) roof and front wings have faded to nearly white over the years.
the car used to belong to my farther but he had a recent change of heart and gifted the car to me. its been in the family for 10 years now and has never let us down.
couple of small niggles like the drivers electric window not working and the electric mirrors making lots of noise but not moving much.
overall its a great car and i really enjoy driving it. which is a good thing as its my daily driver. loads of fun can be had by leaving less able cars standing on some twisty back roads.
well hello to all you other 924 owners out there, my name is Luke and i'm a happy porsche owner. _________________ 25 years old and still loads of fun.

Hi Luke,
Welcome aboard. If some faded paint and under-performing mirrors are your only problems then you've got a good one. _________________ 1979 924 (Gone to a better place)

yeh i think i have a quite well looked after one. but i fear the water pump is on its last legs as its started to make some noise now and again.
still at least its an easy car to work on.
i just hope the electrical gremlins stay in the mirrors and drivers window. i dont want them moving to the engine. _________________ 25 years old and still loads of fun.

Welcome aboard and make sure that noise isn't coming from the timing belt adjust\idler.

is it an interfearance head if the belt skips or snaps? according to the handbook i dont need to worry about the timing belt for another 20k.
hmm i'd nest listen more closley to this new noise of mine. thanks for the heads up _________________ 25 years old and still loads of fun.

No the the 924 is non-interference, so you are OK if the belt snaps, not so with a 924 turbo. The belt and tensioner are cheap, $20 for a belt and $30 for a tensioner or there abouts. _________________ 1987 951 - M193 Version for Japan |

Its 26.99 for the belt and tensioner as a kit from EBS racing, the belt by itself is 7.36

Hi, Luke, may the Force be with you.
(Sorry, I'll bet you get that all the time. )
The timing parts are so cheap (and easy to fit), it's not worth taking anything for granted.
Timing belt £4.50 + VAT, tensioner £18 + VAT, about £30 all in (including postage) from somewhaere like GSF or Eurocar parts. _________________ 1985 Porsche 924 'Lux', Kalahari Beige (my ex)
