I've got a 1981 Weissach, 5 speed, perfect body except for a dent in one of the quarter panels Also a cracked dash, discolored carpet and all that stuff. It's in very good mechanical condition, runs well. Says 30K miles on the odometer but it doesn't work, previous owners said it stopped several years ago, and estimate actual mileage to be about 90-100K. Paint is pretty good except for some chipped spots. Seats are in excellent condition, same for the upholstery on the doors. Got it for $1500 USD.
Did I get a good deal? I think I did, but I don't know what these usually sell for. |

You should be able to delete that other topic yourself, as long as no-one else's responded to it. Just delete (click the "X") on your last post there, then do it to the first one...or go into "Edit", then click "Delete this post" for each one starting with the last. I'm about 95% sure that's how it works. _________________ "..it's made in Germany. You know the Germans always make good stuff."

"Sounds" like you got a good car there. The real price is what you pay + what it costs in needed repairs, so if it's looking and running good, you probably got a good deal. Many pay less (some even $0), but then spend a couple or more grand getting it running. _________________ "..it's made in Germany. You know the Germans always make good stuff."

It mostly depends on how it's been treated, what has or hasn't been replaced. This car can seem to run ok even with a cracked head gasket, and plenty more wrong with it. Most likely it has 130K or more miles, I'd take a good hard look at it.
Sounds like you got a pretty good one though, with a proper 5-speed. These things are mechanically tough and last a long time, but the electrical work is pretty bad after 26 years and usually receives zero maintenance. Good luck, I think you got a good deal. _________________ 1977.5 924 "Martini" head / New Old Stock rebuild

Yes it had a few electrical problems, but I just replaced the fuses and it all seems to be sorted out now. |

RE: the odometer - theyre normally easy to fix shoul you want to. Requires carefully bending the silver trim out around the guage from the back, then it all comes apart, then just aralditing the little plastic cog back on/
Hardest part is getting the speedo cable off in the confines of the dash. |
