my 924 did not pass smog because it has a high idle, they said I have to junk it or part it out but I love this car and dont want to do that really, its a 79 and my 77 did not pass smog either as i remember and ended up selling it for 500 bucks as is, I promised to myself I would never sell another car for that cheap. Is there anyone on here that lives in or near redding california that would be willing to help me with fine tuning this car? I think it has a vacuum leak somewhere and needs a tune-up. I really do not know much about 924's, I can only mess with the timing and idle and it does nothing , it just runs really rough, even ran through fuel
injector cleaner about 5 times and it did not help.

You can get it to pass, man. My 931 ran so clean at idle they didn't even require the high RPM test, adn Oregon standards are pretty high.

Your car is probably going to need a new catalytic convertor to pass.

Buy a real genuine cat, and not an aftermarket piece of crap, then you shouldn't have any problem passing the emissions test after you cure the idle speed problem.

As you have probably been told before, you need to have a good quality set of spark plug wires, and spark plus, plus replace all of the vacuum lines. ONLY THEN can you set the idle speed and mixture. At that point the emissions will be fine with a new cat.
