After I got the heater working, the blower motor make a nice howling noise periodically. Usually happens 5 or 10 seconds at a time, every couple minutes or so. Can this thing be lubed or is it done? It puts out great heat though... _________________ Michael

The stock blower motor is a cheaply made POS. Poor shaft bushes, plastic brush holder that melts and is what you would expect from China. Have to pull the heater unit to lube it anyway.
However it is possible you have some leaves, twigs or other crap in there rubbing against the fan. PITA to fix. Have to remove the top vent cover and flap arm to get access. Perhaps blowing compressed air in there may dislodge it. Otherwise just keep using it until either its chopped up and blown out or the motor craps itself and dies. Then replace it.

I found this blower motor on flea-bay. Will this one work in my 77.5 NA? I'm computer retarded and don't know how to do the hyper-link stuff, so you'll have to copy and paste it on ebay. Let me know what you think. Thanks!

Use some teflon spray that comes w/a long tube or straw applicator and you can reach in from under the hood and spray the shaft enough to usually get it to quiet down for a little while.
I sprayed mine about 2 years ago and it's been quiet ever since. _________________ '80 924 n/a SOLD |
