Hey, does anyone here live in Hawaii?
I bought a 924S about a month ago, just as a beater to get me around while I'm going to school here, but the thing has grown on me. Being as old as it is, it has a number of problems that make it a fixer-upper. I figure that if I can get in touch with any enthusiasts it would help me tons to restore my car.
It moves well enough, I've even taken it autocrossing (pictures) and will keep going, but it has things like non-functional a/c, sunroof, side mirrors, poor acceleration, etc. that just cry out 'beater!' to anyone who gets inside. _________________ -White 1987 Porsche 924S (Hawaii)

One possible problem with the AC is low charge. There's a pressure switch on the reciever-dryer that keeps the compressor shut off if the freon charge is low. On my car, this part is hidden near the left headlight. It's probably in the same spot on a 924S.
Grounds are a major cause of electrical problems in the 924. My elect mirrors miraculously came back to life when I cleaned the rear ground point in the luggage compartment between the taillights. As far as I know, they're not supposed to be grounded there, but they did come back after cleaning that one.
Power sunroof problems have been discussed here many times. I don't have one, so have no firsthand experience, but a search should find plenty on the subject. For best results, use multiple keywords, over 2 chars each, and click "search for all terms".
First thing to check for the poor accelleration is vacuum leaks. You may be best off to just go through and replace all vacuum lines. _________________ "..it's made in Germany. You know the Germans always make good stuff."

I've been perusing this site a bit (and 924-944-968 FAQ) and have found plenty of info for fixing some of the problems with my car, but seriously, there's nobody here in Hawaii? I only have a little experience working on cars and it'd be more confidence-inspiring if I knew someone personally who has worked with 924's. _________________ -White 1987 Porsche 924S (Hawaii)
