I have the opportunity to buy a set of Hoosier track tires mounted on porsche rims.
The owner stated to me that the offset is 50 and 55. Since the 924 stock offset is 52...would I need spacers for these to fit ? Would I also need to roll the fender lip ?
Sorry to ask so many questions as of late but I am also trying to figure out what is required equipment in 4 different sanctioning bodies (PCA, SCCA, EMRA, and NASA) for time trial and DE. My head is swimming

it depends on what 924 are we talking about...the 4lug 924 wheel has 23ET not 52....also...it depends on how wide the rims are....ET50 does not tell you enough without the width of the rim.

Both of my 924's are 5 lug (1987 924S & 1981 924 turbo).

Possibly I am mistaken in the offset

You are correct about the 52.3 offset, but Morghen is correct that the rim width is needed to give you an answer.

OK...here are the details

Tires - set of 4 17" Porsche wheels with Hoosier R6 track tires (225 front/255 rear).

Rim width - 7" front and 8.5" rear I believe

The offset is 55 and 50 and the bolt pattern is 5 x 130

They were on my '87 944 Turbo, which was considered "late" offset. I
believe the rims originally came from either a Boxster or a 911

I am thinking that these may be too large

I bet they will work. You may have to run a 245s on the rear if the 255s rub

I have 225s on the rear (on 8s), and they are 1/2 inch from rubbing my rolled fender.

ok....i'm 75% sure that you will have a clearence problem with the fronts. The only way to find out is put the wheels on your car.

I do not think that is is any way that these will fit a stock 924S.

Rolling the fender is squashing down the perpendicular lip on the inside edge of the fender.

*click*

There are different approaches, including a special tool that bolts to your hub as well as a baseball bat. I found it very easy with channel locks. I used a piece of particle board wrapped in a shop towel to protect the paint, and put a piece of heater hose on the jaw of the pliers to minimize loss of coating on the inside. Crunch, crunch, crunch, work along the radius of the wheel arch.

FWIW, the fronts were factory rolled on my car, but not the rears.

I know for a fact that 7" and 8" 16s can be fit under a 924s with a 52mm offset, and tires having a 55 and 50 AR . While I am not qulaified to say crap about 17s, I do think with maybe a 205 40 in the front and a 225 35 tire in the back they would fit. Maybe even a 245 35 in the back. If the tires and the rims are coming as one deal, insist on trying them first.

Are these porsche rims or some aftermarket horror?

They are porsche rims, but I think that 17's are going to be way too big. 16's maybe if they weren't as wide as these.

Are you sure of the rim widths? The tires suggest 8 and 10 inch wide rims. Or at the very least 7 and 9

They suggest a 9 up front and a 10 in the rear, I *should have* 305's in the back but can only fit a 245 on the rear and a measly 225 up front. I have 9's on the front and 10's on the back.

If you can fit the proper tire to the rim, I suggest doing so.
