|

All, 1979 924na, I had a shop replacing the evaporator and heater that went bust. The entire dash is out and everything is apart. While I wait for a Haynes Manual to arrive so that I can begin to put things back together again I would like to solicit suggestions on other things to do or check while everything is apart. I am already going through all of the electrical connections. Also I anyone has an PIX or drawings of the heat/ac assembly that would aid in fitting all the bits together I would be grateful. They left me with a box of parts, no labels etc. Just a mess.
I am redoing the dash and will post pix of that project soon. _________________ 1979 NA 924

I updated the whole heater in the 79 I had with the newer system. It makes a BIG difference. The blower (actually a blower--not a fan) moves much more air. Also, the late system blows heat out of the dash vents.
It is not a straight bolt in though. _________________ 84 944--924 Carrera GTS clone w/520HP Chevy 302 V8--RUNNING!

Awesome Harm.. You know checking all the grounding lugs
under the dash is a to do. its in the center on the front bulk head.
Has a bunch of brown wires to it. These should be cleaned and covered
in dielectric grease or vaseline. Keeps them corrosion free. _________________ 1979 porsche 924 Na

Update all the instruments lights to LEDs.
I know, you can do this whilst the dash is in, but it's so much easier if it's out. You just have to pay attention in each socket to which side is ground.

Put in a new ignition switch.
Fab up a battery-direct ground harness and tie it in with as many under-dash ground points as you can find - especially the light switch.
Re-glue the defrost ductwork. It's just cardboard and pulls away from the inside of the dash, creating air leaks. May as well install a dash cover while you're at it.
I'm sure there's lots more, but these come to mind. _________________ '88 944 Auto - may or may not resurrect |
