Just happened.
When in first or any other gear I can move the shift lever left or right as you would when going from 2nd to 3rd.
I can still go through the gears but this is a little scary.
Any ides what might of come loose before I go digging around? |

Usually due to the shift lever being worn out; replacement is about $45. _________________ Vaughan Scott

Yeah, had the same deal in my car. Replaced the shift lever (quick and simple) and that just about murdered the problem. You may have a bit of slop left over afterwards, but it won't be anywhere near as bad, and fixing that (at the transmission) is just a pain in the ass. _________________ 1987 924S: Very much in love with it, even if it's all finnicky |

You can fix your existing lever. Tap it and run a bolt through it. That is what I did and it was absolutely reliable. Do a search. I think it might be in the how to. I know it has been discussed somewhere in this forum. _________________ 87 924s

It looks like there is a bolt that goes through a clearance hole. I assume that is the hole that needs to be threaded. I'll search the forum to see if I can find the fix.

Wow, I guess I'm lucky that my shift lever is super tight still! _________________ -1977 924, 4-Spd...Gone
