ever get together and actually drive your car's? Not trying to bust balls, but there doesn't seem to be much interaction in 924 land other than online. _________________ 82 - 924 Gone, but not forgotten.

I would love to. It just seems that everybody is so far away. Gas is so friggin high and you have to be constantly working just to survive.
When ever I see someone with a 944 or 924 I do a u-turn in the road and try to talk to them. Have not met any locals who love the cars as much as I do. People just kind of look at me wierd. _________________ 87 924s

It is bizarre. There are probably 50+ west coast people registered on the Board, and nobody seems very motivated to do anything. . .can't get anyone to go to the races, or the last two Porsche Parades (one here in Portland, one in San Diego).
Go figure. _________________ Toofah King Bad

I have seen only one other 924 in my area but not recently.
Nearest other one that I know of is 1400 klms away.
Seen a couple of 944's here though. _________________ Porsche 924 1984 (UK import) NA

I'm too far away to drive down to portland, I hate the I-5 with a passion that burns like the center of the earth.
I've met quite a few 924 board members. They usually come up here, stay the night, maybe get a little drunk, and sometimes we go cruising. Was fun cruising around with kenodog for example. Board members are always welcome at my place. And I will meet chrenan one of these days. Just gotta get around to going for a long alberta trip.
Lizard has stopped by quite a few times now. Never stays long though, punk.

Peter,
When my toofah is back on the road let's organise a local catchup! Are there any others in Sydney?
Cheers,
G. _________________ Whoever said you can't buy happiness forgot about Porsche!

same thing down here in SE Florida, i saw a guy in a series 1 931 awhile back, pulled up next to him to say hello, and he looked at me like i was nuts..my 931 has been off the road for a year or so, wont be ready to go for at least another three or four months, but im hoping to get some things going down here once it is. there are a few others i know of, but the only one with running versions is Vince at the moment. Ive even tried to get some wrench days going, with a couple of "ill be there's" that turned into no shows..recently i set up a south east car domain group also, so maybe a few will stumble onto that..
we had a nice group of 924 owners in metro ny for awhile, it would be great to get some momentum going down here as well. _________________ Eric

I'd love to organize a local Porsche meet! I've done it for the Toyota Supra crowd...but It doesn't seem like there are any local 924 owners around my area...at least they aren't online anyway. Are there any SoCal Porsche clubs/online forums? _________________ -1977 924, 4-Spd...Gone

When Paul was in Brisbane a few years back, a handful of us got together and drove to Montville/Maleny for the afternoon...
I've been to the local track to watch macBdog run his car.
Other than that, I've caught up with many 'board members in Oz, The 'States and Canada but I must admit, we haven't really gathered for a proper drive day. _________________ '80 924 Turbo |

I think it just may be the wrong group, and too few people in a large area.
I have done day road trips with a few other 928s (12), and have had and gone to many tech sessions for the 928 as well. In fact just last weekend had 3 928 fellows come out to my place to install my new suspension, koni's with 1000 lbs spring front and 500 lbs rear, with tubular racing upper a arms. _________________ 3 928s, |

Welcome back to The Real World (not the MTV kind), Yanks!
Agree with Lizard, we're pretty well spaced around the place. Even Min, who'd be closest to me, is a three-to-four hour drive away (not counting Lizard, who lives just down the road... occasionally). And Rasta (the next closest?) is, what, five or six hours away? And in a different country! Doesn't really make it easy to catch up for a quick spin 'round the local roads... _________________ '80 924 Turbo |

I would be willing to go to BC some weekend to drive, talk 924, and just hang out. It would be better once I'm back on the road.
For that matter I would be willing to host in the Seattle area sometime. Have to get clearance with the wife, but I would expect that she would be open to it. Get a group together and trade parts and knowledge. Maybe arrange a drive? There is some pretty country around here with some twisty roads.
I don't have a huge space, a two + car garage and one spare bedroom but I think it's possible. |
