Hi All, my first post here. I have a 1988 924S that is a one-owner car (me), I bought this car new with 8 miles on it. The odometer broke a long time ago but I estimate its got 200K on it. The car has sat for the last 8 years in a hangar that got flooded up to the seat cushions during a 200 year flood event when we had 12" of rain over a three hour period. Prior to that the car sat outside for two years. I haven't started it yet but have turned it over by hand with a socket wrench (starter is bad.) I'm in the process of doing a complete restoration of the car. It makes no financial sense for me to do this but I love the car and will never get rid of it. The car is in fairly good shape but is dirty and needs a new paint job. The dash is cracked and I want to put a new dash in. What's the consensus on dash repairs....send it to justdashes or get a new one? I think I'd prefer a new one but I'm afraid of finding out what they cost.
Regards,
Bob |

The price of a new dashboard from Porsche depends on the color. Could be anywhere between $1500-$2500 (part only). The warranty is 2 years, unlimited miles.
Just Dashes is no-longer the bargain that it once was. Last I heard, the price was well over $1000, with a waiting period (4-6 weeks), and rising. If I remember correctly, the warranty was lifetime.
Since factory dashboards have the tendency to crack, the lifetime warranty from Just Dashes looks attractive to me, as long as it covers all cracking.
If I were you, what I would do is contact Just Dashes to get the current price list, and check on the waiting period. You should also get a copy of Excellence Magazine, and contact a few of the Authorized Porsche Dealers with toll-free phone number who are advertising a discount from Porsche Suggested Retail Price to see if your dashboard is still available, and what they would charge you for one. |
