I am not sure if I have the inserts in my '87 S.

Is that post the one were you cut your old tubes to facilitate the insert ?? If so...I read it a couple of times

Didn't have to cut them - they just unscrewed, and I popped them in.

I bought new bumpers and 250# springs, and added camber plates to the top of the unit. Not the tightest ride, but much better than stock, and it should be OK for AutoX.
