Hey guys..

Today I went to see how the work is coming along on my car.. they are working away at it nicely. Unfortunately the after market power window kit cannot be installed, but they gave me directions to a small garage on an industrial estate and told me to speak to "genius"

I went to the area and was directed to a little garage, inside the guy was building a countach kit car.. he had pictures of 24/44's on the walls, I knew I was in the right place..

I asked him if he had any parts from these cars, and he took me to a small store and there was a rack packed with porsche parts!!!!! *rare find over here!*

His story: He has a 944S2 and also owned a 924 which he stipped both for racing. (there are no race tracks here apart from a 1/4 mile and there are no porsches down there.. A.k.a everything there might be 'HOT'.

He has a set of power window motors and regulators from a late 44. Will these work on my car? Apart from the wiring and switches which I will handle.. From what I read the answer is yes, but just want to be sure..

He also has a 2.5L Turbo engine there and best of all.. A set of full electric front seats and rear seats in perfect condition (may be leather of vinyl) I asked him the price out of curiousity.. only $450 for the set! Damn if only I had found this guy before I had my seats re-done the way I wanted!!!!

He wants $180 for the window regulators and motors for both sides. I will have to haggle this one down a bit..

what's a window regulator?

I recently bought 2 complete mechanisms on ebay (germany) for 75 euros from a 944.

The mechanisms are exactly the same as on my 924. I'm not sure if these are from a old/late style 944, but I guess they haven't changed (but as I said...that's a guess...).

So 180 bucks is quite a lot... but I got mine 'cheap'...

The mechanism in a door (usually) which regulates the height of a window relative to the door.

So, it's essentially the mechanism that raises and lowers a window.

Thats right tom,

The parts that I have a chance to get my hands on is the mechinism that raises the window along with the motors

I will try a few angles at getting the price down..

I still cannot get over how/why he has a broken 944 over here. No one would ever break one here, esp cause of the import duties and vat paid to bring it in (over $40K) even if it was badly damaged it would certainly be re-built. Its not used on a track as there are none over here. The island is so small that word of any above average car is around within days and I have not heard of it once. Maybe it was stolen a while ago, but what goon would steal a one of a kind car on the island and break it??

Any theories?
