Okay well a while back I realized that no fuel was getting to the engine...So i finally decided to get on it...Well on page 79 in your haynes manuals is where I started....Under "7 Fuel supply - tests and fault finding". Well im going right threw them...and 5 says to make a jumper lead out of a 8 amp bottle fuse....
Does that look right??? Well i followed threw...and 750cc's of gas did not come out the Fuel return line....none did. So i went on to the next step...it says to remove something called a "HT lead" from the coil. That is where I stoped...because I have no idea what a "HT lead" is...so can somebody explain to me what it is???

BTW, I think the key needs to be ON for the jumper to work.

Was the pump running- are you sure there is some in the tank?
Someone here recently went thru all the checks to discover (a long time later) the tank was empty.
The fuel gauge lies

I'd put more than that 2-3 gallons at least.

Before replacing your pump, make sure you're getting voltage at its terminals with your jumper in place, to ensure your jumper is working as intended.

From the look of your jumper I wonder if your actually making contact with the relay connections. I put spade lugs on mine and it slid right into the relay socket.

With the iginition 'on' and after waiting a few minutes, the fuel pump should be warm to the touch if it's not spinning. At least that is what happened when I checked out the one in my 'new' '77. I pulled the pump, and applied voltage to the terminals. The motor would 'kick' as I applied and reapplied voltage to it, but not turn. Was ready to toss it, but I whacked the aluminum 'head' back and forth trying to dislodge it to see what effed it up. On a lark, I put the voltage back on it, and gesus, the thing worked! Not recommending this as a way to fix these things, but I can now try to get the '77 started, and not have to buy a new pump. For now anyway, I'll get a new one when needed.

Thats what I was thinking. Heres a photo of a long version I made so I can switch it on and off while working up front. I also have a short version, less the switch.
