Well I once lost a cell-phone to frustration, but after that I learned to be a bit more careful and fortunately my cars have never suffered at the hands of my emotion... well, not anger anyway, perhaps irrational exuberance can be a bit hard on them though! ;p _________________ 1988 924S Navy Blue - Phone Dials |

Sounds like Porsche abuse... maybe I should alert the officials! j/k
I know exactly how you feel at times. I snapped a Playstation 2 controller one time over frustration haha.

I learned very early on in this endeavor, that having the correct set of tools makes working on these cars MUCH easier. Most of my frustrations have stemmed from trying to work on something with the wrong tool, because the right one was not in my toolbox yet. I think I have spent as much on tools as I have on parts.

ditto.... good tools are the key, and dont cheap out...my 931 engine sits on the floor of my garage still, because i was too cheap to buy a good bolt extractor. the one i did buy snapped off, and now i have to drill out the remains of a hardened steel bit, a few flakes at a time.. that one ticked me off enough to throw the broken handle, which bounced off a box and almost knocked me out... seems every time I have a "violent " reaction from frustration, I end up damaging myself instead of what ever I want to beat on, screaming at it works much better for me... _________________ Eric

Ah, yes! This would be the opportune time to dust off the good ol' Ten Commandments, particularly commandments 7-9: | ideola wrote: | 07. DIRTFT (Do It Right The First Time)

To directly answer the question, I've just about reached that point with my daily driver 3 series. Ever since I've paid the car off, I've had nothing but trouble with it. I might as well still have that flippin' car payment with all the $$$ I sunk into repairs lately. In the last six months, I've spent probably north of $4K on various repairs, and I still have to replace the windshield after the glass de-laminated from the weight of the rearview mirror, causing it to fall off and the windshield to crack
Sheesh. $4K. No wonder I can't get the UWB project completed! _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

In the past month:
- my lawn mower's engine blew
- my gas trimmer did the same
- i now borrow lawn equipment from three different neighbors to keep from abusing the relationship with one
- i got the 924 running but went through 3 starters, 10hrs and still have a thumping in left front wheel that I've yet to investigate/resolve
- Porsche still needs shifter bushings
- my daily driver sprung a leak in the transmission - crawled under and found the transmission filter's gasket became separated from the filter
- my wife's daily driver is burning oil from somewhere between the back of the motor and the firewall - unable to determine cause atm
- had to replace my sump pump
- I popped two holes in my sons' inflatable pool - not fixed yet, might become a breeding ground for mosquitoes
- my yard was overcome by grubs - never heard of them until now, never had them in Maryland
- a friend from college called out of the blue to rekindle a friendship only to tell me he needs me to call and get an insurance quote from his company so he doesn't look like a slacker
- the money to register the Porsche (now that its running) went to fix some of the crap I just listed - so I'm left with driving it around the block with the kids and their bikes
I can understand the frustration . . . can't say I've physically acted on it aside from slamming a door . . . oh wait, when the gas trimmer died, I threw it across the lawn.
On a good note, our third child is due in two weeks. _________________ 924.org (no time to complete)
