Question I have is would some thing like this work to transport a 924 to its new home?

http://boston.craigslist.org/sob/rvs/659936233.html

$90 is cheap money for this. To get a tow dolly would be best but the cheapest I can find is $300... and to be honest... that is $300 more than I have.

So... anyone done it with a tow bar... if so how?

Will have a Totota 4 runner doing the pulling... or Maybe a 2500 Dodge Ram.

I've used a very similar unit to that on a 944 with success ( towed it about 110 miles). The unit I used was adjustable though so you could set the arms to the correct width for the lower suspension arms and you then used ratchet straps around the arms to secure it. Simple and easy and would pull a 2000kg vehicle. Just make sure that the unit you are buying is the right width for your suspension and will clear the underside of the car.

Bruce.

I want a Tow Bar. Brought a new toy, and don't particularly want to get rid of the 924 but need something to tow it. Any ideas where might be able to find one? Or even what is solid enough to mount too?

I have 3 tow dollys for 924/944's. It's how I get them to the race track, being towed by another 944. You can make one in about 2 hours. PM me if you want some pictures sent.

I've been known to drag race when I was younger. I use the 944 still to this day, when everyone said it couldn't / shouldn't be done. I don't even want to think how long I have been driving it, 5 years daily and probably 4-5 years during the summer months. I have changed the oil and last month I replaced the rear pads. I leave it out all winter and it's starting to show. The racer has not been used in nearly 5 years, along with the bike. I have started to put stuff back on it to make it road legal for a bit of fun driving.
Now I get my kicks in 6x6's and playing with different types of machines. I don't care for my Porsches and became very bored with them but I'm slowly thinking I may get round to using them again or just getting rid of them ll together and start a new chapter in my life.
