So...guys...i'm not going to lie to you....i might have EFI installed on my car. Why ? The hot hatches and new luxury cars are getting close to the performance offered by the 924 turbo in my garage. And i really dont want a car that i've invested so much to be underpowered compared to an opel or a VW.

So...i've found a shop in Hungary that can install EFI and VEMS on my car. Ofcourse the sum is big...but i will deliver the car to them and two weeks later i can pic it up fully tuned with the desired HP(within reason).

So.....
1. i will need a new fuel pump, will i have to remove the intank pump or can it stay there and just use an external EFI pump instead of the old CIS one?
2. i will need a fuel rail, i've heard that the ford mondeo fuel rail fits perfectly, well will it fit with the charge tube in place? what year is the mondeo that i'm looking for?
3. What about the injector bungs? i want to use Siemens injectors wich are longer and thinner, i want to place the injectors in the place of the CIS ones.

Endwrench, will you be kind enough to share with me the drawing or measurements of the bungs you've made? i would buy them from you but since you're not making them anymore...and even if you would...it would be just stupid to send a few plastic parts over the ocean when i can have them made here for peanuts.
TIA !

Why do you need new fuel pump? Stock pump(s) are more than enough for whatever goal you EVER might have with your engine (like more than 500 hp).

stock pump dinamicaly delivers 6 bar of pressure and fills up one liter in 15 secs its too powerfull for the EFI system...eats too many amps for nothing.

Wait a minute...you're using the CIS fuel pump with EFI arent you?
hmm...whats the nominal pressure that you're using in the rail ?

That's what a fuel pressure regulator (FPR) is for. I'm planning to use a Bosch 044 pump with a Sard adjustable FPR.

How do you think pump consumes more current when it works on less load?
I use 3Bar FPR from BMW and stock fuel pumps, both in-tank and main pump outside the tank.

And I'm not a big fan of aftermarket fuel pressure regulators, perhaps only quality ones like Sard, Mallory etc.
OEM ones are usually very good quality and they hold pressure exceptionally well. With prgrammable ems adjustability isn't needed anyway.

I use the stock CIS fuel pump as well. I use the MSD-2222 adjustable FPR.

The bungs are relatively easy. Just take a standard bung in one hand, and your injector in the other and put them together and think about how you can make them fit better.

Endwrench drilled out the centre of the bung and then glued a piece of tube into the lower section of the bung to provide a stop for the injector.

You could try drilling out the centre of a standard bung, filling it with a high-temperature epoxy resin and then pushing an injector covered in kitchen plastic wrap into it before the resin hardens.

I bought some "weld in" aluminium bungs for $8 each. If you can get the same thing you can drill out the standard bungs and insert the "weld in" bungs into them.

well, the bungs that I got from endwrench certainly don't have a 'tube' for a stop. They are drilled out, have a peice of copper pipe installed which is then reamed out to the correct size to seal on a injector o-ring, the tube that is inserted is for the o-ring seal.

min, you must have a different version to what I have. The one I'm looking at has a plastic tube/pipe glued into the lower 1/3 of the bored out standard bung. Simple and effective.

I wasn't implying that it isn't a well-made solution.

There are two versions, since I have both... The brass ones and the pvc ones.

I have noticed the pvc ones do not hold up to the heat as well as the brass ones.

i'm going to have them machined from a POM(Polyoxymethylen) cube.
I will unmount a stock unit and have my own 3D model and drawing of the thing. I also designed and had made a POM bushing for the shifting linkage at the back.

I drille dthe head with a 15mm (IIRC) drill to a depth of around 10mm, not enough to beark through. It leaves a recess for the injector seals and keeps a tight grip on the injector.

Seems to be working for me and no drilling blanks o (Or cubes of stuff!)
