1) Is there a special orientation of the crankshaft pulley "guide pin hole" to the missing tooth section of the 36:1 trigger wheel ?
I think the guide hole represents BDC for cylinder 1 and 4, could be wrong
2) Can the trigger wheel just be drilled, tapped and bolted into the crank pulley? there is only about 3mm thickness on the pulley b4 it goes through to the belt.

You can just bolt it up, but it needs to be dead square adn true, might be an idea to get it in a lathe and skimmed after assembly. I think the MS pages describe the offset required, I can't rememebr off the top of my head, but it depends on where your crank sensor is, I bet it's not vertially above the pulley! _________________ 1994 Lotus Esprit S4 - Work in progress...

Would be better to make up an arrangement where the trigger wheel can be reindexed after installing the main crank pulley. Somebody here did this in the past, but I don't have the reference handy. I'll do some searching to see if I can dig it up. But the idea is to not lock yourself into a particular orientation by requiring the trigger wheel to bolted in a particular orientation. You may find that you need to move or change your pickup sensor, so having flexibility to reindex the trigger wheel is worth the extra fabrication effort. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

Maybe we could get another run of the fully adjustable 36-1 trigger wheels that CEP did for us a while back.. _________________ [This Space For Rent] |

I'd definitely be interested in that, but David has been hard to get ahold of (not unlike many of the other jobbers we've tried to deal with, as noted in the Cometic HG threads ).
If there's interest, I'd certainly be up for leading the charge on another group buy.
{EDIT}
Jason, do you have contact info for those guys? I might have it somewhere, but if you've got it on hand, please post it or send it to me in a PM. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

Found it
http://www.diyautotune.com/tech_articles/trigger_wheels_installation.htm
Missing tooth location is 9 Teeth ahead of Vr sensor when engine at TDC...Does this mean it sits on top of the 9th tooth or in the gap after tooth 9??
ok it sits in MIDDLE of 9th tooth
http://www.megamanual.com/ms2/EDIS.htm
p.s just confirming...when looking from front to back, the crankshaft turns clockwise?
EDIT- ABOVE PIC SHOULD HAVE MISSING TOOTH AHEAD NOT BEHIND VR SENSOR _________________ 1979 NA

I have a template made up for this if you want it.
Also did those AN fittings work for you? _________________ 1979 931 with a 350 chev

Spent the day making this thing adjustable... trigger wheel can be rotated
90, 180, 270 degrees....slots also allow for around 25 degrees within each quadrant.
Tolerance is within 0.2mm from "out of round" VR sensor sits between 0.5 and 1.5 mm from trigger wheel making tolerance acceptable
4 stainless steel hexs bolts fasten trigger wheel to crank pulley. Pulley was drilled and tapped
Macb the smaller fitting was a fit but the oil return fitting was a little small... _________________ 1979 NA
