|
|
After a quick search on the board, I just got more confuse.
I have a 76’ on the original alloy 14” and I just but 15” and I’m trying to find out the tire size I should use.
The original 14” are 185-70R14. Using a tire size calculator, a 195-60R15 has the same overall diameter but nobody seem to run those. I was planning to go with 205 but 205-55 is 1.3% smaller and the 205-60 is 2% bigger.
So, I believe smaller tire doesn’t fill the harsh as well, would accelerate faster with a slower max speed. Where a bigger tire might overfill the harsh, would accelerate slower and have a faster speed limit..???
I understand that the difference is not that big, but still is.
Is that making sense?
What tire size should I use?
What are you using?
Here the link for the tire size calculator.

I would go for the 205/55. Ride will be more harsh, though, and steering will be a bit tougher at slow speeds. _________________ Toofah King Bad

I have 195/60 Yokohama's on my 6Jx15 spider webs on the 924 NA, and they look and feel great. However, I put 195/60 Kumho's on the 6Jx15 phone dials on the 924S and I did not like they way they looked...the tires looked too big for the wheels. Personally, a smaller profile like the 205/55 would probably look better. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

Thank you guys.
The rims I just but are phone dial 4 bolt, so I’ll shop for 205/55. |

I have 205/60s on both of my mine.
205/60 are cheaper and easier to find than 205/55.
Cars that came with 15" wheels came with 195/60s from Porsche. |

exactly right...whos to say the 30 year old speed gauge is acurate to within 2%?...
here in QLD australia we will only get a speeding fine if were over 10% of the speed limit....apparently the Australian car design rules allow a 10% instrumentation buffer
point...1 or 2% is minimal _________________ 1979 NA
