I tried to be careful though it happened the springs became dislodged
in the headlight mechanism. If i could get a picture of how one side has the spring in place maybe i could get it from there. Is the spring under tension, The last piece of the linkage slips on to the head light inbetween the 2 prongs and the spring is supposed to slip on to the linkage piece this all held on by a plastic bushing that slides over the headlight holding bracket. Heres a pic of the pieces I assume there
a left hand spring and a right hand one.

Im wondering if theres ternsion of the spring that can only be reached with the jig mentioned in Haynes. I found a schematic that shows which side is up on the spring and thats about it. I think it cant be done am I wrong here. Com-on give me some help here. Though is designing and making fiberglass buckets what I want. ........... I think so. _________________ 1979 porsche 924 Na

I'm having trouble with my headlight mechanism as well. I'm watching this thread to see if Mr. Joe924Racer figures it out. I don't think the Haynes manual has been much help. What about the big, fancy professional shop manual for this car, is there something in that that might help figure out how to get this put together properly? _________________ Fred- 1979 924 |

Outstanding. Cheers to the holidays.
Ill have to see how much tension is on the springs hence the doable
without a jig part. _________________ 1979 porsche 924 Na

Seems Ive got it ,after placing everything like in the pics &
using a bar clamp I was able improvise a jig to set everything.

How bout a pic of the springs location in the closed position
from anyone... you know the spring in the headlight mechanism
theres one on each side right by the inside attaching points.
Gren a diers buddy did you slap those together really quicke,
I solved the puzzle and put them together like in your pics
and guess what they wouldnt fit... seems the headlights need to be switched from side to side in other words there upside down.
I switched sides
installed them
adjusted them
Theres a problem theyll only go down to almost closed with the motor
(Im thinking the springs upside down and the tension is the wrong way.)
Resulting in them not closing.Ill have to reverse the tension of the spring
I guess.... its all trial and error.
