Hello everyone. I'm Sid and I live in the UK.

Have been lurking on the forum for about a month now, reading about the 924.

I want a track day specific car and the 924 looks good.

I'm going to buy one sometime in the next month or so. An NA 924 because the engine will be getting a good thrashing and I don't want to worry about huge parts costs if I blow it up. I know they don't give huge power, but I'm sure I can wake it up a bit

If you are running in a 924 series which they have in the UK then fine. You will be with like cars.

Wake up the engine to what? You have 135 hp almost good enough to stay with early 70s 911s maybe.

It will cost a lot of money to make them much faster or reliable. Trust us when we tell you. You have been warned.

Good luck
Vince

It'll just be for fun track days Vince, rather than racing.

It shouldn't be too expensive to tune the engine because I'm quite well set up to do most of the work myself. I've got a background in engine tuning and building, have a small machine shop and friends who can do specialist work such as aluminium welding. Expensive in time rather than money maybe. The basic plan is to try and do something about the inlet port, add a hotter cam and convert to Webers. Just simple stuff really.

It's been a long while since I did any engine work and I'm really looking forward to getting back into it.

I have done exactly what you intend to do.

Have fun.

Vince is very wise, spend your money on your brakes, tires, and cooling system, leave the motor alone.

Cheers Vince. Is there a thread which describes your track car ? I started searching your posts, but there are a lot of them to go through

The chassis, suspension and braking stuff will be getting done first and what I plan to spend most of the modification budget on. I can make a rollcage and turn up solid bushes on the lathe, but everything else I'll need to buy.
