Guys I have a 944 turbo radiator and new 14 inch thermofan ... I also have an ac condenser and will look to possible get another 10 inch thermofan for it

1) Are there any issues with running the 14 inch fan as a push type at the front of the radiator? It is a universal and can be used either way. Will give me more turbo room on the engine side.. I dont have and don't plan on a shroud

2) are there any problems with running the 944 turbo radiator upside down so that the overflow tank (944 fender type) is connected to the hot side of the radiator? This gives me a cold water nipple right next to the turbo for cooling and reduces the hose length needed for the overflow tank to radiator. Only issue I see is the drain plug is now at the top but I can drain by removing lower hose anyway.

First off if you are going to put the radiator upside down then you are in effect going to reverse flush all the crud.

If you have a old radiator or a radiator that has been sitting outside of the car for a while, I bet you never had it in a water tank / bath or had it filled with water did you . As soon as you go to use it it will start depositing all that caked on crud that has dried up all through your motor.

Incorrect-- firstly I wouldn't put an old cruddy radiator into my924....secondly if there was crap in the radiator which there isn't then it wouldn't matter which way I put it in the water flow
Would still pick up all the crap....There is no crap filter internally within a radiator that i know about let alone one that works only one way

I don't recall at the moment but is there a vent nipple on the 951 radiator at the top like on 924 radiator? If so, you'd have to fabricate it to the radiator.
Otherwise there should be no problems running it upside down as 924 overflow tank is in fact connected to the exit end-tank of the radiator.

As for the fan, I wouldn't use it as a pusher. As a puller it will move more air through the radiator.......much more if a condenser is in between.

Radiator fans are not designed to push air through radiators. They are designed to pull air and they will pull air more evenly throughout the radiator than used as a pusher.

Does this fan have a shroud? If not it will not cool as well as the factory fans because it will only pull or push up to the diameter of the blades and all of the area not covered by the fan will not have any flow unless you are over about 30ish MPH.

I would suggest using a fan shroud with flappers that will bend with higher speed, opening "widnows" and therefore increasing airflow through radiators. Audi uses this approach on many of its models.

Like this (ignore the circles):
