Need procedure for (not doing it today) removing tires
the way motorcycle tires are. Manually with out a machine.
Im sure its a silly idea just wondering if it can be done like I said. _________________ 1979 porsche 924 Na

First job take the valve out to deflate it.
Next job is to break the bead. Lay the wheel on hard ground and drive over it with another vehicle, just the tyre though not the rim. Drive over the edge as close to the rim as pos. you may have to reposition the wheel so the bead is broken all around on both sides.
Then its tyre leaver time. They need to be quite long and you need some way of anchoring the wheel to either the ground or a bench
Thats the easy bit. Getting the new one on is a little more difficult. I wouldn't even attempt it on an alloy wheel unless it has a real high profile!
Why not just take it to your local tyre bay Joe? _________________ 924 (84) N/A 2 ltr - 5 Speed - BLACK - Project (looking for 200BHP, any ideas!)

No Joe, don't make out that you got no money to square up with Vince. If you gotta put your car stuff on hold until you honour your debts then well, join the rest of us mere mortals
To answer you Q, break the bead as mentioned. A good friend of mine ,(with Arctic off-roading expierence saysl told me this), pour gas in there and light light it...it supposably creates a strond enough re-beading to inflate with air???? |

Not Gas (US Petrol)! inflate the tyre from a propane bottle and light with a match to re bead, then inflate with air or nitrogen if you are feeling sexy!. _________________ 924 (84) N/A 2 ltr - 5 Speed - BLACK - Project (looking for 200BHP, any ideas!)

No I'm on the right thread....Questions that plead poverty will not do. Common sense intuition will suffice here but feel free to "freud it to suit". Plato? What is justice? Blah,blah,blah...

more I guess though I might try bustin one off 9xx girls way.
Thanks for the info 9xx girl ...very good info. _________________ 1979 porsche 924 Na

On the fairness buzz...
Thanks for the post. All the money if we get it is going to charity someone suggests. I will be out a throttle body and freight and 50 but I want to prove a point.
Peter thinks I am being too harsh on him. Hey, what about me?
I would not trust him with my used toilet paper. His nature is "me first no matter what".
Thanks again.
Vincent,
I have not asked Vince's permission to post this. (Sorry Vince) I'm batting for you but fairness must prevail. Sorry to involve a third party but again... |

If for that price they'd replace a tyre on a rim for you as well, that's pretty good. (That is, turn up with two tyres, one on a rim, move the rim from one tyre to t'other.)

2nd time... are you OK ic932?
Joe my wheels have split rims (COMPOMOTIVE 3pc Modular Wheels) so if i can be bothered to undo the 32 nuts and bolts from around the edge, i can take the rims off the tyre. (once the bead has been broken of course)

I found a place in the town I live in called Discount Tire ( not a franchise)its in a bussiness district and looks to be a pretty good bet for me to go in and ask if I can have 2 tires pulled off for now then go back with the rears.. I have no idea what they will charge. _________________ 1979 porsche 924 Na

I don't remember the first time, but yeah I'm fine. No need to be a smartass. Joe got debts to pay to respected members on the board. I'm gonna help Vince in any way I can (yes, even if that means being a prick lol).
I'm always ok, just a happy chappy lol. |

Joe if i go to the local tyre bay they will charge me to pop tyres off. So i go late on a Saturday. Just half an hour before they close for the day. The boss has gone home and the lads that work there will pop em off for me for nothing. If the boss is there however they will charge me. He is always around Monday to Friday so i don't go then, but he leaves at lunch time on a Saturday and there are only two guys in the workshop in the last hour.
Edit: Are you on commission ic932? _________________ 924 (84) N/A 2 ltr - 5 Speed - BLACK - Project (looking for 200BHP, any ideas!)
