My 931 is making the most incredible noises now. Not too sure why but for the past few weeks it has become a pleasure to drive (it's back as my daily until my wife gets her car repaired) It pops gently out of the exhaust when i change up a gear and if i back off at about 2800 revs in any gear it pops and crackles. I hope there isn't a problem causing this because it sounds great. The only thing mis-behaving right now is the cold start valve.
The car, to the best of my knowledge has a standard exhaust and it's just gone through smog so the emissions should still be low.
I have always been one of those people that gives a little blip as i change down gears. I know it's not necessary any more, but it's a habit. (third to second needs a good blip, must be a bad syncromesh in there) Sadly i've never heard my car driving from the outside. My wife refuses to drive a stick. Are these cars loud? People have told me my car is distinctive sounding. It does get a little boomy at low revs.
What do your 931s sound like? Standard or modified.
Also when going up the rev range there is a noise, a little like air rushing . Would this be the air rushing through the re-circulating valve? I thought at first that the car was pre igniting (pinking) as that's what it sounds like, but it doesn't seem to be.
One for the performance junkies. Has anyone tried to turbo and supercharge a 931? Like the Lancia Delta S4. Now that's a noise i'd like to hear coming from my car. I reckon the main issue would be joining the two charge tubes and fitting a bypass round the supercharger. Just dreaming, i don't even fully understand the 931.

The Spiker has a nice sound, not up to F1 standards, but it gets noticed.

The 941 and GEBLASN both have stock systems on them as far as I know, but for some reason they sound very different. It might be partly due to the cold air setup I'm running on the 941, and it could also be due to the S1 turbine in the 941 vs. GEBLASN's S2 turbine. In any event, the 941 has a much more aggressive sound to it. GEBLASN is pretty tame.

On SONIC I'm running a Dansk stainless cat-back. It's not loud at all, but it has a nice sound to it, more pronounced than a modern car (you can hear him coming when he turns into the sub, about 1/4 mile from my house), but he's not obnoxious at all (IMO). I'm running a straight pipe on SONIC, with the DANSK resonator and final muffler (the cat-back setup is a singular unit).
