People used to tell me it was ugly all the time, "why yellow"? they would say, I would tell them "because you can't paint your boring Toyota yellow"

Me in the car!

Those are nice cars. I wanted to buy a factory V-8 BGT out of the UK......but the RHD was something that turned me off and the LHD V-8's were very limited in numbers.......something like only 6 IIRC.

i gre up with MGB roasters and GT's, 924's and 944's. I went down the German route but I still have a soft spot for MG's.

Yeah, nice car. I restored loads of these, along with Triumph Tr's. I want to sometime build an MGC with a TR6 engine rather than the Healey lump which IMO is way too heavy. Ill just take a BGT and put in the 6cyl and add a GTC bonnet with the cool bulge.

It's good to see that we all have great taste in old cars.

I love them! there is something special about driving them. It might be just the mixture of quality craftsmanship and simplicity that makes it an absolute pleasure to drive around.

Well....since we're on the topic of British cars......here's my 1973 Triumph GT6.....California car.......in original paint job. I hope to do a frame off restoration in the next couple of years. It took me 2 years to find a Magenta one.......most depreciated in value and hit the autowreckers very quickly. Magenta is a colour that shows off quite well at car shows. And yes.....the bolt on wire wheels are factory original......an idea Triumph came up with for a year or two for the US market.

Hmmm..... Cars that i remember as a child. Back in the 1970 the roads were full of British and GM cars. In fact, it was unusual to see a European car back then. These days its mighty unusual to see a British car. I guess they have all dissolved what with use making them all water soluble.
The Triumph spitfire was always a favuorite of mine

My daughter wants me to buy a Spitfire and restore it and paint Magenta.....so she can park it next to my GT6 at car shows. So I'm pondering buying a Spitfire and restoring that and the GT6 side by side.

spitfires are up for sale here in the uk and ireland all the time for less money than a 924. however as Paula pointed out they were made from blotting paper and most snapped their spines

its a lovey car, my Dad had a few many moons ago but even he said that the only car faster than it was the Lancia beta in the old metal to ferrous oxide race series... petered out mid eighties though and nearly bankrupted Lancia to compete against the Brits in it.

Triumph made some really nice cars. The GT6 is one of my favorite cars along with the Bug-eyed Sprite. I love when the TR6 is in road racing form, they look so mean!
