Ive got a 76 924. my issue - it sputters.....all the time! at idle, reving. and at a constant speed. ive replaced the injectors and it runs like crap. i took off the fuel distributor and noticed a good amount of oil underneath and in the air filter. i think its coming from the hose connected into the air filter. would this be the cause of the sputtering? _________________ 1976 - 924 |

I'm no expert, but if it's the crankcase breather hose I would say...Yes.
Also (I've learned from here) vac leaks..check for vac leaks..did you check for vac leaks? _________________ I got nothin'

Did you check for vac leaks?
One other thing to play with is the distributor timing. Start her up, loosen the distributor hold-down and twist away. If you've got trouble under all conditions it may be spark instead of fuel delivery.
Also, have you gone after all the usual suspects? Done a regular tune-up? _________________ '88 944 Auto - may or may not resurrect |

I quick way to check for vac leaks is to spray carb cleaner around and see if the motor run different, I might run better or worse but when it changes you know you found the spot.
Just don't spray all over like a mad man, be methodical about it. _________________ Rick

Well its not the distributor. So spray the vac lines with carb cleaner??? Doesnt sound all too safe. But ill give it a whirl.
Also, I removed a pollution device that had a pulley, it had a tube that connected to this device that is circular and makes a LOT of noise!! it is located between the throttle body and the far injector. Can i cover it? or can i just remove it? _________________ 1976 - 924 |
