I've just completed a 5-bolt swap, all is well except for the brake warnign light in the centre console that won't go out anymore.
I did not touch the MC other than fill it up with fluid after all the bleeding with new calipers. It is topped up.
Hand brake all functioning.. there is no fluid level sensor that I can see and obviously on a 1980 there were not pad sensors either.

Anyone can tell me what that particular light is on for and maybe a wiring diagram so I can check what has gone wrong?

Thank you!

I (or you/anyone else) would have to verify if this applies to pre-'81, but I know for '81-up, the low oil pressure warning circuit is tied in with that brake light. -So, both brake problems, and low oil pressure will cause that light to glow.
Possibly done as a backup for the other low oil pressure light..

Thanks for the tip, but it does have oil press via press gauge and the dummy light in the gauge panel goes out once engine is started.

Any other tips?

Thanks in advance.

Cheers

Check the hand brake electric connection gizmo, mine needs 'adjusting' on a frequent basis. I'm sure it's loose on mine, winter project. Or, you have exposed foil on the firewall hitting the oil pressure gauge wires.

Dave got it right. There's a switch below the arm of the E-brake handle that is engaged when you drop the handle. If a wire comes off the switch, the light will stay on. Mine used to fall off occasionaly 'till I took some pliars and tightened the spade.

Yes, I called it a spade. I always call a spade a spade.

I have a "brake" light and also an "emergency brake" light in the centre console. One is directly above the other.

Hmmm I know there are a few variants on this setup out there, but mine is a Euro. How is yours?

Is it the Emergency brake light you have lighting up? (then check the E-brake spade connector)

If it is just the "brake" light, then it is as smoothie says.
hope that helps

Nope, wire is perfect and on there, also I know that is working because the dummy light in the cluster (below oil light and above low fuel warning) lights up with handbrake leaver on and goes out with lever down.

The one in centre console is on all the time.

Electrical Diagrams @ pelican. See part three.

Once, in my case, an 82 NA, it was the Brake Fluid Switch in the brake fluid reservoir
(cap on top) that got pushed in and got stuck, so it didn't show the reservoir was
filled up right and triggered the red alarm light in the center console.

Secondly when my oil level/pressure is low it wil make me aware of it when it occurs.
(Avoid that! …solved by replacing the engine )

HTH
Regards, Harm.
