So my 951 has been peaking out at 1.5 bar for all the time I have owned it, and I just assumed it was normal. The car seemed pretty fast, but so far I have only put 1000 miles on it. Doing some reading I saw that the 951 is supposed to be at 1.75 bar at 3000 rpm, well it wasnt doing that. So I began readng more and poking around the engine, and soon found that I had a slight manifold leak and my timing valve for the was leaking pressure to the wastegate. I fixed all that and feel like I drove the car for the first time. I punched it in 4th gear had an immediate flip of the boost needle to just under 2 bar and a split second later a surge like I had been rear ended by a freight train. When the boost hits, it goes off like a bomb... thanks porsche!!

Of course it should be around 0.75-0.8 bar. The little unaccurate stock 951 boost gauge reads around 1.75 bar but in real world it means 0.75 bar. If you would have 1.75 bar, you'd also have several hundred hp and soon after that a blown engine.

Yes, 1.5 bar or more would be insane on a stock 951.

It's the German way of thinking. Normal barometric pressure is 1 bar in standard conditions at sea level, so why not represent boost as the total pressure?

I saw some really interesting electronics and wires on a printer cartridge the other day. I reckon this technology could be used in our ignition system. The results that when on boost the surge you'll get will make the car go like a bomb. Like Yemen, sorry, meant to read .... Yea Man!!
